Academic Resource Committee (ARC)

 
The role of ARC is to review and approve changes to both courses and programs as outlined under Level 3 changes on the Chart of Program Changes and Course Revisions. The Academic Resource Committee reviews the requested changes against the Ontario Credentials Framework, PEQAB Degree Standards (if applicable) and Sheridan Policies and Procedures.

 
To schedule time on an ARC agenda, please work with your Program Support Specialist to submit an  ARC agenda request to the ARC email, (arc@sheridancollege.ca). Meeting dates and locations can be found below on this main page.. ARC meeting minutes and materials can be found under the documents tab of the ARC SharePoint. ARC 2021/2022 Academic Year

 
As we prepare for a new academic cycle, please find below important updates that include enhancements to our processes effective Fall 2021:
 

1. Consultant Support for Curricular Modifications

Commencing Fall 2021, each Academic Faculty will have a designated CTL Curriculum Consultant to support major curricular modifications, as follows: ​​​​​

If you have questions related to major curricular changes, their requirements, or approvals, you are encouraged to reach out to your respective Curriculum Consultant.
 

2. ARC Institutional Deadlines for 2021/22

 
Deadlines for the 2021/22 academic year for curricular modifications are as follows:

March 15th 2021 – The institutional deadline has passed for some level 1, all level 2, and all level 3 Fall 2021 curricular changes. Please see the Chart of Program Changes and Course revisions for timelines
 
July 15th 2021 – For curricular changes effective Winter 2022
 
December 15th 2021 – for curricular changes effective Spring 2022
 

March 15th 2022 – For curricular changes effective Fall 2022
 

3. ARC dates for the 2021/2022 Academic Year

ARC will continue to meet on a monthly basis (first Friday of the month) to support major curricular modifications. Review dates and submission deadlines for the 2021/2022 academic year include:

Please note a few changes to the ARC meeting schedule for 2021/2022:

  • September and January ARC dates have been shifted down a week to support semester start-up.
  • The month of February will have only one ARC meeting date.
  • To support planning, we have included deadline dates for agenda requests in the table. We encourage you to submit requests by the identified timeframe.

 

4. ARC email

The ARC email is a hit! Please continue to use the email for all agenda requests, submission of documentation, follow-ups and correspondence with ARC, arc@sheridancollege.ca.

 

5. ARC SharePoint Site

6. SAL Access

A friendly reminder that faculty have access to SAL. Faculty can download course reports and submit changes for approval through SAL.

 

7. Teaching and Learning Portal

Visit our Teaching and Learning Portal on SheridanCentral for resources related to academic quality that support ARC. We welcome your recommendations for new resources that would be of value to your work with ARC processes and practices. Please share any suggestions via arc@sheridancollege.ca.

 

8. Guide to Program Changes and Course Revisions

The updated Guide to Program Changes and Course Revisions is attached. This is a wonderful resource (in a searchable PDF for ease of reference) that will help you and your teams navigate curricular modifications and ARC submissions.

 

9. Outstanding ARC Chair Review/Follow-Up Sheets for 2020/2021

If you have outstanding ARC Chair Review/Follow-Up sheets for the 2020/2021 academic year, please submit these before Fall 2021 to finalize your ARC submission and archive the modifications.
